Atlanta Bound! Lukinac Wins 200 Free, Punches Ticket to NCAA Championships

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Morgan Lukinac won her second gold medal of the 2026 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championship on Friday evening at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center as the Brown senior won the 200 free during day three of the 2026 Ivy League Women's Swimming and Diving Championship. Lukinac set the program record, finishing in 1:44.20 to punch her ticket to the 2026 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championship in Atlanta on March 18-21. Overall, the Bears sit in fourth place with 736 points heading into the final day of competition.Â
Lukinac was part of the relay team that won gold on Wednesday, and she won the 200 freestyle for the second time in three seasons after winning in 2024, also held in Providence. Tonight's win was her ninth individual event win of the season.Â
During the morning prelims, Lily Klinginsmith placed fourth in the 100 butterfly. In the finals, she took fifth place overall (53.30). Sumner Chmielewski sat at fourth with a time of 4:14.69 in the prelims of the 400 IM and also took fourth overall in the finals (4:13.70).
After first, third, and fourth-place performances in the 200 free prelims, respectively, Lukinac was followed by Crystal Yuen (second; 1:45.28) and Isabella Dieffenthaller (fourth; 1:45.60). Angelina Chen took fourth in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:01.58) and the 400 medley relay concluded the evening with a fifth-place finish as Lukinac, Chen, Nadia Thomas and Eva McIver-Jenkins finished in 3:38.68.Â
Earlier on Friday, Elena Yeh qualified for the 3-meter diving finals with a score of 279.25, good for sixth place.Â
The final day of the Ivy League Championship will consist of the 1650 free at 3:45 p.m., after the prelims of the 200 back, breast, and fly, as well as the 100 Free and 400 free relay. The 3-meter diving finals will also take place at the 6 p.m. start of all final races.Â
