
Women's Tennis Earns Doubleheader Win

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Brown women's tennis team (3-0) triumphed in their doubleheader with a 7-0 win over Johns Hopkins (0-1) and Stonehill (0-4) on Saturday at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
Today's double-header was truly a full team effort as every member of the team had the opportunity to compete in singles and doubles at least once. Broadbent Family Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser said.
Opening with doubles against Johns Hopkins, Dani Ben-Abraham and Hannah Shen delivered a commanding 6-3 win over Sophia Kim and Sydney Langer at the first line. At the second line, Abigail Lee and Chloe Qin displayed relentless effort as they clinched a 7-6 victory, prevailing 7-5 in a tense tiebreaker. Lee and Qin's win clinched the doubles point for Brown. Despite a spirited performance, Francesca Saroli and Bella Hu fell 6-3 to Claire Loftus and Sahana Madala.
Against Stonehill, the Bears dominated from the start, sweeping doubles in style. Ben-Abraham and Shen outlasted Anneliese Beltran and Julie Holte in an electrifying first-line tiebreaker, 7(7)-6(5). Lee and Qin powered to victory at the second line, shutting out Arya Chabria and Lilah Shallcross 6-0. At the third, Sari Woo and Anne Moody clinched the sweep with a confident 6-2 win over Madison Warren and Iliana deArmas.
The Bears went on to sweep all of their singles matches for the day. In her first singles match of the day, Hannah Shen powered through 4-6, 6-0, and 14-12 against Johns Hopkins' Sophia Kim at the first line. Abigail Lee competed at the second line, defeating Johns Hopkins' Sahana Sanjeev 6-4, 6-0, then beating Stonehill's Julie Holte 6-1, 6-2. Dani Ben-Abraham secured her win at the third line with a decisive 6-1, 6-1 victory over Johns Hopkins' Sydney Langer. She also claimed a first line win against Stonehill's Madison Warren with identical 6-1, 6-1 scores. Francesca Saroli made her debut spring singles appearance at the sixth line against Johns Hopkins' Karah Li. She won a tough match 7(7)-6(4) and 7-5. Saroli also defeated Stonehill's Lilah Shallcross at the third line, 6-4 and 6-1.
Sari Woo earned her win at the fourth line against Johns Hopkins' Aubrey Zuou, 6-1 and 6-3. Anne Yang defeated Johns Hopkins' Isabel He at the fifth line, 6-2 and 6-2. Chloe Qin, making her spring singles debut, earned a fourth-line win over Stonehill's Anneliese Beltran, 6-0 and 6-2. Bella Hu added a fifth-line victory by defeating Stonehill's Arya Chabria 6-2 and 6-2. Anne Moody recorded her first singles win of the spring by beating Stonehill's Iliana deArmas, 6-3 and 6-2.
Dani and Abbey went 4-0 on the day each, competing with clarity and focus, setting the tone for the rest of the team. Hannah pulled out a tough singles match at line 1 vs. Hopkins, coming from behind to win a match tiebreaker 14-12, showing toughness and resilience under pressure. Freshmen Chloe Qin and Francesca Saroli secured their first dual match singles wins of their careers for the Bears. Even when our players were behind in sets and games, they stayed focused and outcompeted their opponents. Overall, great team effort for our team as we continue to develop our competitive skills. said Schmidhauser.
