Bears Deliver Strong Shutout Against Fordham

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Brown men's tennis team (2-0) turned in a strong showing with a sweep in doubles and singles play against Fordham (0-2).

In doubles, Ivan Sodan and Zander Bravo earned a 6-4 win over Dhillon Virdee-Oakley and Diego Cueto, while Noah Hernandez and Lukas Phimvongsa followed with a commanding 6-1 victory against Dhananjay Athreya and Mateusz Gradzki.

Elliot Wasserman and Theo Murphy closed out the doubles sweep with another 6-1 triumph over Will Lokier and Nicolas Garnier.

Brown carried that momentum into singles, where Sodan opened with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Gradzki, and Phimvongsa added a two-set victory over Lokier, 6-3, 7-5. Bravo battled through three sets to defeat Virdee-Oakley, 6-2, 1-6, 6-2, while Wasserman posted a 6-2, 6-2 win against Athreya.

Robert Yang's performance resulted in a 6-0, 6-2 win over Cueto, and Alex Koong closed out with a victory over Timotej Stofa, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4.

Brown will be back in action on Sunday, Feb. 1, when the Bears welcome Holy Cross for a 9 a.m. matchup and Marist for a 3 p.m. matchup inside the Pizzitola Sports Center.
