Men’s Tennis Adds Bastien Huon as Assistant Coach

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Brown men's tennis head coach Mike Fried '91 has announced the addition of Bastien Huon as assistant coach.
Huon joins Brown after serving as an assistant coach at UNC Charlotte for the past two seasons. Under Huon's leadership, Moritz Muenster was named AAC Co-Freshman of the Year last season, the first for the program since 2018. Vasco Prata was named First Team All-Conference last season, and UNC Charlotte reached its highest ranking in program history at No. 42 in mid-season. The 49ers finished the season ranked No. 52 in the nation and were the No. 2 seed in the AAC Tournament, the best seed in program history.
Prior to his time at UNC Charlotte, Huon served as an assistant coach at James Madison, he spent two years with the Dukes and helped the program to 19 dual-match wins. On top of the team's success, he helped two singles competitors and one doubles tandem earn All-Sun Belt honors.
Huon was a standout player before entering the coaching ranks. He spent two years apiece at Coastal Carolina and Campbell after coming over from Quimperlé, France.
He collected 21 dual-match wins at the No. 1 singles spot in two seasons as Coastal Carolina on top of 16 doubles wins. For the success, Huon reached No. 100 in the ITA Singles Rankings in 2021 and No. 116 in 2022. He started the 2021 season with a trek into the Round of 16 at the ITA Carolina Regionals to earn a No. 46 ranking in the final rankings of the fall.
Prior to joining the Chanticleers, he was named to the All-Big South Conference Second Team for singles and doubles with Campbell. He won 29 singles and 25 doubles matches with the Camels to start his collegiate career. Huon's spot on the All-Conference team came after a Big South Regular-Season Championship.
Huon will join a staff that features Fried and Tristan Kaye.
