6/24/2025 12:00:00 PM | Women's Basketball
PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Elizabeth F. Turner '98 Coaching Chair for Women's Basketball Monique LeBlanc has introduced Jason Pellum as the Bears' new assistant coach.
"I'm thrilled to be adding Jason to our staff and welcoming him to our community here at Brown," LeBlanc said. "Jason has strong experience in a variety of different coaching roles and will make an immediate impact on our program. In addition to his strengths in recruiting, player development and other on-court roles, Jason is a curious and thoughtful learner, which is a great fit at Brown. We are so excited that Jason is a Brown Bear!"
Pellum comes to Brown after spending the last four years on staff at Boston University, including one season as an assistant coach during the 2024-25 campaign. He joined the Terriers as the team's video coordinator for the 2021-22 season, then spent the next two seasons as the Director of Women's Basketball Operations before being promoted to assistant coach in April 2024. During his tenure, he helped produce opponent scouting reports, coached the scout team, oversaw student managers, and directed and oversaw the Terrier Elite Camp among other duties. He helped mentor and coach Alex Giannaros, a two-time All-Patriot League honoree who led the nation in three-point percentage (.515) during the 2022-23 season.
Prior to arriving in Boston, Pellum served as a video coordinator with the UConn women's basketball team during the 2019-20 season, filming games and practices while creating opponent scouting reports. He previously spent three seasons from 2013- 16 as a practice player for the UConn men's and women's basketball teams, being a part of squads that captured the 2014 men's national championship and the 2016 women's national championship titles.
Pellum was also member of the USA Women's Olympic Team's practice squad during training camp leading up to the 2016 Olympic Games under head coach Geno Auriemma. Pellum also spent the 2019 and 2021 seasons as a practice player for the WNBA's Connecticut Sun, assisting the team in reaching the 2019 WNBA Finals.
A native of New London, Conn., Pellum graduated from UConn in 2016 with a degree in economics.
