Women's Rugby Places Third at Ivy League 7s Tournament

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Brown Bears women's rugby program competed at the Ivy League 7s tournament on Saturday, earning third place. The Bears secured a 2-2 record, defeating Princeton twice.
Lily Nowak was dominant, scoring four tries on the day. Akilah Cathey scored three tries, while Aziza Alford, Yona Allouche and Priscilla Maalouf added a try apiece. Julia Murray made four conversions and Tarn Reilly made one.
"The team showed incredible resilience with a number of younger players stepping up like Yona Allouche and Jordan Wiseman," said women's rugby head coach Rosalind Chou. "Additionally, senior captains Aziza Alford and Akilah Cathey dominated the contact area."
10:40 a.m. – Vs. Dartmouth (L, 24-0)
Dartmouth came out hot in the first half, scoring quickly and taking a 12-0 lead into the half. Brown showed fight to start the second half but were unable to score. Dartmouth added three tries in the second half, winning the contest 31-0.

The second game of the day was tightly contested early before Lily Nowak scored a try to give Brown a 5-0 lead. Princeton answered, but Nowak scored again to take a 10-7 lead. Akilah Cathey added a try with a conversion from Tarn Reilly to make it 17-7 at the half. Aziza Alford and Priscilla Maalouf added tries in the second half to cruise to a 29-12 victory over the Tigers.
