Women's Rugby Falls to No. 1 AIC in CRC 7s Championship Game

BOYDS, Md. – The Brown women's rugby team (18-11) advanced to the championship game of the Collegiate Rugby Championship (CRC) National 7s Tournament on Sunday, but fell to No. 1 AIC in the title game at the Maryland Soccerplex. The Bears defeated No. 3 Navy, 24-0, to clinch their fourth consecutive title appearance, before ending the season with a 24-7 setback to AIC.

Brown vs. No. 3 Navy (W, 24-0):
The Bears defeated No. 3 Navy in the semifinals match on day two of the CRC 7s Tournament. Lily Nowak scored the first try of the game. Charlotte Davies scored another try to close the first half. Olivia Baptiste added a try in the first three minutes of the second half, and Julia Murray converted. Laryssa Barbosa scored the final try of the game, and Caitlin Moroney converted, sending the Bears to the championship match.

Brown vs. No. 1 AIC (L, 24-7):
The Bears lost to No. 1 AIC in the championship match, 24-7. AIC opened the scoring in the first minute. The Bears tied the game with their first and only try and conversion. Baptiste scored the try, and Murray converted. AIC dominated the second half, scoring three tries and one conversion to defeat the Bears.
