PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Three members of the Brown men's swimming and diving team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Tuesday (April 1). Brown's three honorees were seniors Jack Kelly, Marcus Lee and Harrison Powe.
To be considered, a student-athlete must have competed in five competitions OR finish top-eight at a conference meet, have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
Kelly became a three-time All-American this season, finishing eighth in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke at the NCAA Championships. He became the first Bear since 1943-44 to be named an All-American in two different seasons. This season Kelly won the 100 breaststroke in an Ivy record time and finished second in the 200 breaststroke at the Ivy League Championships. He also set the school records in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke and was a member of the school record teams in the 200 and 400 medley relays. Kelly will graduate with a degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Lee was a member of two school record relay teams, anchoring the 400 medley relay and swimming second in the 800 freestyle relay. Lee finished eighth in both the 100 and 200 freestyle at the Ivy League Championships. Lee will be graduating with a degree in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science and Engineering.
Powe swam two NCAA B Cut times at the Ivy Championships, finishing 12th in the 200 breaststroke and 14th in the 200 breaststroke. He also finished with a personal best in the 200 IM, finishing 17th. Powe will graduate with a degree in International and Public Affairs and Economics
