PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Four members of the Brown women's basketball team were named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Team. Receiving the honors for the first time are senior Gianna Aiello, juniors Grace Arnolie and Beth Nelson, and sophomore Olivia Young.
To be considered, a student-athlete must have participated in 90% of the team's games played or must start in at least 66% of the contests, have at least a 3.5 cumulative grade-point average (on a 4.0 scale), and reached sophomore athletic eligibility.
Gianna Aiello competed in 21 games for the Bears, making starts in 19 of them. Aiello rounded out the season with a .564 field goal percentage and an average of 8.1 rebounds per game, ranking her second in the Ivy League in both categories. Aiello averaged 24.9 minutes of playing time, and netted an average of 9.4 points per game. Faced with an injury halfway through the season, Aiello bounced back and continued to find success on the court and in the classroom. Gianna will graduate from Brown in May with a degree in computer engineering.
Grace Arnolie competed and started in all 27 competitions for the Bears this season. Arnolie led Brown in scoring with an average of 14.8 points per game, ranking sixth in the conference in scoring. Arnolie joined the 1,000 point club back on Feb. 1 in Brown's contest against Princeton. She closed out the 2024-25 season with a total of 1,092 career points. Arnolie also led the Bears in assists with 101 at the end of the season. Grace is concentrating in sociology with a focus in organizational studies.
Beth Nelson played in all 27 games for Brown this season, making starts in 10 of them. Nelson averaged 21.2 minutes of playing time this season. She set a new career-high of 13 points at Penn on Feb. 15. She also set a career-high in free throws with five made against Yale on Jan. 11. Nelson remained tough and gritty throughout the season, making her a tough opponent to face. Beth is concentrating and working toward a degree in chemistry.
Olivia Young played in all 27 contests, making starts in 23 games for the Bears. Young closed out the season with an average of 6.1 points per game. She had a .325 three point percentage, and hit a career-high five triples against Yale on Jan. 11. Young ranked third on the team in assists with 28 this season. Olivia is concentrating in public health.
