PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown football came up on the short end of a 34-22 final against Yale on Saturday at Richard Gouse Field at Brown Stadium.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

Junior quarterback James Murphy was 26-for-42 for 366 yards and one touchdown through the air.
Sophomore Trevor Foley had six catches for a career-high 145 yards.
Senior Ty Pezza had two catches for 66 yards and one touchdown.
Sophomore Pearson Hill added 46 yards on two catches, and sophomore Matt Childs rushed for 41 yards and added four catches for 43 yards.
On defense, senior John Perdue tied for a game-high 11.0 tackles and tallied a fumble recovery.
Senior Ryan Haley added a career-best 9.0 tackles.
Freshman Drew Crabtree was 3-for-3 on field goals, with a long of 36 yards.
Yale finished the game 7-for-15 on third downs.
Yale outgained Brown by a margin of 463-385.
Yale running back Josh Pitsenberger ran for 173 yards and two touchdowns on 27 carries.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Yale took the lead on the first play from scrimmage with a 62-yard touchdown run by Pitsenberger for the quick 7-0 lead.
The Bulldogs made it 14-0 late in the quarter, converting a trio of third downs on a 70-yard drive that ended with a 12-yard touchdown run.
Crabtree got the Bears on the board with a 29-yard field goal at 13:16 of the second quarter to pull Brown within 14-3. The drive was highlighted by a one-handed catch on fourth down by Matt Childs at the Yale 11.
After Brown was unable to convert on a Yale turnover, the Bulldogs went down the field for seven more, going 70 yards and scoring on a 21-yard pass down the middle to push the lead to 21-3 at the 5:12 mark.
Crabtree connected on his second field goal of the game from 25 yards out with 1:57 remaining to make it 21-6. The drive was highlighted by a 41-yard catch and run by Hill.
Taking over at their own 20 with 43 seconds left, Brown drove into field goal range, with the key play being a 37-yard pass to Foley on third-and-long. The play led to a 36-yard fields goal by Crabtree as time expired to cut it to 21-9 at halftime.
Yale took advantage of good field position near midfield and tacked on another score on a short run by Pitsenberger to go up 28-9 at 3:08 of the third.
Brown answered right back in the closing seconds of the third quarter on a five-yard run by Childs to pull within 28-16.
Brown's defense got a stop and held the Elis to a field goal with 10:51 left that made it 31-16.
Yale turned an interception into three points with 7:38 left with a 40-yard field goal.
Murphy connected with Pezza for a big 55-yard strike to get Brown back within 12, 34-22 with 7:06 left, but that was as close as the Bears would get.

Brown will hit the road for the final time this season next Saturday, November 15 with a matchup at Columbia. Kickoff in NYC is set for 12 p.m. on ESPN+ and the Learfield Varsity Network.
