Garre Sets 500 Free Program Record, Women’s Swim and Dive Wins Three Events on Day One of Bucknell Invitational

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Brown women's swimming and diving (2-3) set a program record and a pool record on Friday and lead after day one of the Bucknell Invitational at Kinney Natatorium. The Bears tallied 572.5 points, highlighted by Natalie Garre's 4:43.34 in the 500 freestyle. The finish set a program record previously held by Katie Cowan (4:46.99 in 2000).
FRIDAY EVENING SESSION
Brown's 200 free relay team began the evening session with a win as Crystal Yuen, Audrey Chung, Kelly Dolce, and Morgan Lukinac finished in 1:30.97.
Garre and Yuen replicated their prelim performances in the 500 freestyle with a first and second-place finish, respectively. Garre's mark was 4:43.34, setting a program record that was previously held by Katie Cowan (4:46.99 in 2000). Freshman Beatrice Stewart finished sixth in the event.
In the 200-yard IM, Emilia Barck's 2:01.29 was good for third place, and Sumner Chmielewski placed fifth.
Lukinac won the 50-yard free with a time of 22.61. Dolce (fourth) and Chung (eighth) rounded out the top eight finishers in the event.
Isabella George (second), Chloe Wong (fourth), Elena Yeh (seventh), and Bowie Krawczyk (eighth) competed in the 3-meter dive finals.
Three 400 medley relay teams scored for Brown, led by the 'A' team of Yuen, Angelina Chen, Eva McIver-Jenkins, and Lukinac's second-place finish (3:39.08). The 'B' team of Nadia Thomas, Kaitlyn Holmes, Lizzy Washburn and Dolce placed third and the 'C' team of Barck, Catherine Yu, Hannah Ahn and Lily Robinson finished fifth.
FRIDAY MORNING SESSION
Garre's 4:47.51 set the standard in the 500 free prelims, with Yuen following at 4:47.63. Also advancing to the free finals was Stewart, who placed fifth with a time of 4:53.49.
Barck's 2:02.30 mark in the 200-yard IM was the second fastest, and Chmielewski placed fifth to advance to the finals on Friday.
Lukinac, Dolce, and Chung finished third-fifth, respectively, in the 50-yard free prelims.
George won the 3-meter dive prelims, and Wong (third), Yeh (sixth), and Krawczyk (eighth) advanced to the finals.
