
Men's Swimming and Diving Edged by Penn in Close Finish, 157-143

PHILADELPHIA – The final event of the afternoon decided the winner in Sheerr Pool on Saturday as Penn's (1-1, 1-1 Ivy) win in the 400 relay gave the Quakers a 157-143 victory over Brown men's swimming and diving (1-3, 1-3 Ivy). The Bears collected eight victories on the day, highlighted by Marton Nagy's three first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 backstroke as well as the 200 IM. Brown also collected victories from Rory O'Connor, Rowland Lawver, Christopher Zhang, and Matteo Vasiliadis. The win in the 3-meter dive was Lawver's second in three days as the senior set another NCAA zone qualifying mark following his performance on Thursday vs. Yale.
Summary of Top-Three Finishes
- Nagy won the 100 backstroke, finishing in 49.27 and the 200 backstroke (1:46.95). Nagy added a third event victory with a 1:49.86 performance in the 200 IM.
- O'Connor won the 500 free (4:31.98) and the 1000 free (9:22.81). Matt Williamson placed third in the same events.
- Zhang and Donavan Jeng finished first and second in the 50 freestyle, with respective times of 20.45 and 20.50. Zang added a second-place performance in the 100 freestyle (44.48), with Jonathan Gim following in third with a marker of 45.28.
- Vasiliadis won the 1-meter dive with a mark of 309.08. Lawver (306.00) and James Skipper (258.00) rounded out the top three finishers in the event.
- Lawver won the 3-meter dive (356.55), and was followed by Marcel Mateos Salles and Vasiliadis.
- Zang, Gim, Finn Quested and Jeng placed second in the 400 free relay (3:00.16).
- Max Moore placed second in the 100 breaststroke (55.97).
- Nagy, Moore, Jeng and Gim finished second in the 200 medley relay (1:30.10).
- Erik Nadecki placed third (1:42.20) in the 200 freestyle.
UP NEXT
The Bears head to the Bucknell Invite in Lewisburg, Pa., on Nov. 21-23. Action begins at 10 a.m. on all three days.
