
No. 18 Field Hockey Clinches Ivy League Tournament Berth with 3-2 Overtime Triumph at Dartmouth

HANOVER, N.H. - The No. 18 Brown field hockey team (10-5, 4-3) clinched an Ivy League Tournament berth with a 3-2 overtime win at Dartmouth (4-12, 0-7).
The Bears took to the offensive early in the contest with two shots in the first 3:13 of the contest. Overall, Brown had five shots before Kiersten Smith opened the scoring 13:07 into the game, Brown went on to outshoot Big Green 6-1 in the first quarter. Dartmouth's lone shot was on target and was stopped by Brown goalkeeper Ellie Parker.
Brown doubled its lead 4:41 into the second on a goal from Sophia Clark, Clark's fifth goal of the season was assisted by Juliette Meijaard. The Big Green cut the Bears' lead in half 89 seconds after Clark's goal as Lucia Campano found the back of the net. Brown went on to outshoot Dartmouth 6-2 in the second quarter, 12-3 in the first half. The Bears took a 2-1 lead into the second half.
Dartmouth leveled the score at two 3:12 into the second half on a goal from Ruby Walsh. Walsh's goal was the lone third quarter shot for Dartmouth, the Bears had two third quarter shots as the game entered the fourth level at two.
Neither side was able to find the back of the net in the fourth as Dartmouth registered the lone shot as the game entered overtime.
Brown outshot Dartmouth 5-0 through the first 7:13 of overtime before its second penalty corner of overtime and its ninth of the game. Lucy Adams' insertion found the stick of Juliette Meijaard, who laid the ball off to Lizzie Loftus, Loftus fired a shot that was deflected by Mia Karine Myklebust into the back of the net. Myklebust's goal punched Brown's ticket to the Ivy League Tournament for the second consecutive season.
The Bears outshot the Big Green 20-5 (11-3 on target), Meijaard matched a career-high with two assists in the win. The win for Brown was also its 10th of the season, it's the first time since 2003 Brown has won 10 games in a season.
Brown finishes its Ivy League schedule with a winning record for the second consecutive season, this is the first time the Bears have had a winning conference record since the 1986 and 1987 seasons.
Brown will take on top overall seed No. 3 Harvard in the Ivy League Tournament Semifinal on Friday, Nov. 7 at 11:30 a.m.
