
Volleyball Sweeps Princeton as Bears Dominate at Service Line

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown volleyball swept Princeton as the Bears dominated the Tigers, 25-17, 25-21, 25-16, on Friday night (Oct. 3). The 3-0 win by the Bears was the first sweep by Brown at Princeton in program history.
Brown hit .307 as a team and finished the match with a season-high 12 aces. Hannah Flannery set a career-high with six aces, matching the most aces by a Bear in a three-set match since 2008.
Sophia Wolfson reached double-figures again with 13 kills, hitting .458. Mariia Sidorova was second on the team with nine kills. Flannery and Ally Panzloff each had eight kills and Flannery hit a team-high .583 on the night. The offense was guided by Julia Kakkis, who finished with 38 assists.
On defense, Jessie Golden collected a team-high 11 digs with Sidorova and Flannery each picking up 10. Wolfson and Kakkis tied for the team lead with three blocks each.
Brown quickly jumped ahead 7-3 in the first set after a 4-0 run that featured two aces from Sidorova. A block by the duo of Wolfson and Flannery put Brown up 11-4. Princeton would cut Brown's lead to five multiple times but the Bears always answered any Tiger run and closed out the set after an error.
Tied at seven in the second set, Brown started a run with kills by Kakkis and Panzloff. The Bears picked up four aces by Flannery during the run as Brown pushed its lead to 15-7. Kills by Wolfson and Sidorova made the score 20-11 and a kill by Wolfson gave Brown set point at 24-18. After Princeton held off three set points, a kill by Panzloff gave Brown a 2-0 match lead.
Another big run, this one 7-1, gave Brown an early 10-4 lead in the third set. Brown took control of the set with 6-0 run that featured another ace by Flannery. Princeton cut into Brown's lead, making it 20-16 but a 5-0 run with two kills by Wolfson and one each by Flannery and Panzloff ended the match.

Brown will finish the weekend with a match at Penn on Saturday (Oct. 4) beginning at 5 p.m.

- Brown's win over Princeton broke a three-match losing streak to the Tigers. It was the first regular season win over Princeton since Nov. 5, 2021.
- The win was Brown's first win at Princeton since winning 3-1 on Oct. 16, 2021.
- The 12 aces are the most by Brown since picking up 14 aces in a win over Rhode Island on Sept. 7, 2024.
- Wolfson now has seven double-digit kill games on the season, the most by any Bear.
