PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown University's Division of Athletics and Recreation partnered with the Center for Career Exploration to host the Second Annual Career Summit for Student-Athletes. This inspiring and informative day focused on equipping student-athletes with the tools and resources necessary for a successful transition from athletics to the professional world. The Career Summit provided an invaluable opportunity for Brown student-athletes to enhance their career skills, deepen their understanding of different industries, and create professional connections with Athletics alumni.
The Career Summit featured breakout sessions from prominent athletic alumni, including Declan Boyle '24, David Chanely '96, Lisa Donahue '87, Eric Goetz '71 P'08, Alex Holt '01, Nicholas Lattanze '21, Shaun McNamara '06, Russ Pillar P '24.5, Eileen Roccio '93, Michelle Smith '86 and Sheila Walsh '01. The Career Summit featured sessions on networking, interviewing strategies, searching for internships and jobs, financial considerations and strategies, and how to effectively communicate your student-athlete story.
"We are proud to host an event that supports the development of our student-athletes beyond their athletic careers," said Sean Hendricks Ed.D., Senior Associate Director of Athletics, Student-Athlete Development. "The skills they cultivate through sports—discipline, leadership, teamwork, and time management—are incredibly valuable in the workplace. The Career Summit is designed to help them translate those abilities into meaningful, successful careers after graduation."
