Football Welcomes DeCapito and Morrissey to Coaching Staff

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown head football coach James Perry has announced two additions to his coaching staff for the upcoming 2024 season. The Bears have added Eddy Morrissey as the Run Game Coordinator/Offensive Line Coach, and Phil DeCapito as the Defensive Line Coach. Both will assume their roles during spring practice.
Morrissey begins his second stint on College Hill after most recently serving as the Co-Offensive Coordinator and Offensive Line Coach at Merrimack. During the 2023 season, he was the Offensive Line Coach at the University of Rhode Island.
Morrissey rejoins Perry for the fourth time in his career, having coached alongside Perry at Princeton, and serving as the Offensive Line Coach under Perry at Bryant in 2017. He was previously a member of Brown's staff in the late 1990s when Perry was the Bears' starting quarterback.
Prior to arriving at URI, Morrissey held coaching positions at Austin Peay (offensive line and run game coordinator), Mississippi State (assistant offensive line), Bryant (offensive line), Princeton (assistant head coach/offensive line), Fordham, (offensive line/tight ends), and Oregon (graduate assistant).
Morrissey's first stint on College Hill came as a member of both Mark Whipple and Phil Estes' staffs from 1997-1999 when he served as the Defensive Backs Coach in 1997 and the Running Backs/Special Teams Coordinator in 1998-99.

DeCapito joins the Bears staff after most recently serving as a Defensive Quality Control Assistant at the University of Pittsburgh, working with the nickels and safeties. In his five seasons with the Panthers (2019-23), DeCapito's teams led the nation in combined quarterback sacks with 230 and finished in the top 12 in the nation in rushing defense four times.
DeCapito previously served as a graduate assistant on Pat Narduzzi's staff at Pitt from 2015-17 and followed that up with stops at Memphis in 2018 where the Tigers were the AAC runners-up, and as the defensive coordinator at Division II Lake Erie College in Ohio, before ultimately reuniting with Narduzzi at Pitt.
His father Philip, played on a pair of NCAA playoff teams at Youngstown State under Bill Narduzzi (Pat's father) in 1978 and 1979.
