NEW YORK – The Brown Bears (7-7-1, 2-4-0 Ivy League) scored three unanswered goals to take a 3-1 road conference win over the Columbia Lions (1-11-1, 1-4-1 Ivy League) Sunday afternoon at Rocco B. Commisso Soccer Stadium.
Columbia took an early lead as Adrien Wheaton-Schopp tallied his first goal of the season in the second minute off a Lion throw in. Andrew Hilton II picked up the assist on the marker.
Mads Stristrup Peterson found the equalizer in the 19th minute for his fourth goal of the season. Levi Pillar and Greyson Mitchell assisted on the quick-strike goal coming off a Brown throw in.
Mitchell gave Bruno a 2-1 lead with his first collegiate goal less than three minutes later, beating Columbia goalkeeper Dean Kelliher with a left-footed shot from the top of the box.
Lorenzo Amaral doubled Brown's lead with his eighth goal of the season in the 67th minute. After being awarded a penalty, Amaral's first effort on Kelliher was saved, but the sophomore stuck with the ball and finished the rebound.
Henrik Weiper matched a season-high with six saves to pick up the victory for Brown.
The Bears host the Yale Bulldogs (4-10-1, 1-5-0 Ivy League) for Senior Night at Stevenson-Pincince Field next Saturday (Nov. 9). The game is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. and will stream on ESPN+.
