Mercado Named Coach of the Tournament; Four Bears Earn All-Tournament Honors

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown Director of Water Polo Felix Mercado was named NWPC Coach of the Tournament and four Bears were named to the All-Tournament Teams the conference announced on Tuesday.
Dimitris Kratimenos and Ilias Stothart earned First Team All-Tournament with Gabe Chang earning Second Team and Ramzi Megalli picking up Honorable Mention.
After guiding the Bears to their first NWPC Championship game since 2016, Mercado was tabbed as the NWPC Coach of the Tournament. Mercado led the Bears past Harvard in the semifinal game before Brown fell to Princeton in the championship game.
Kratimenos led Brown in goal with 21 saves over the weekend including 10 saves in the semifinal win over Harvard.
Stothart led all Brown scorers with 10 goals, scoring five against LIU in the first round and three against Princeton in the championship game. This is the third-straight season Stothart has earned First Team All-Tournament honors.
Chang scored four goals and handed out seven assists over the course of the tournament. The senior had four assists against LIU and three goals against Harvard. Chang earned Second Team honors for the second-straight season.
Megalli tallied five goals over the weekend and four assists, scoring two against both LIU and Harvard
