Brown Wrestling Wraps Up Competition at Big Red Invitational

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Brown wrestling team competed in the Big Red Invitational today at Cornell.The tournament format was an individual round robin event against Binghamton, Buffalo, Clarion, Cornell, and Sacred Heart.
Joey Iamunno (141) was the standout competitor of the day, going 5-0 and winning his pool. Iamunno picked up wins against Aaron Lanster (Buffalo, TF 17-1), Justin Holly (Buffalo, MD 13-0), Anthony Cadicina (Sacred Heart, FALL 1:17), Jack Martinec (Clarion, TF 15-0), and Carter Tate (Cornell, FALL 2:02) in the championship round.
Harrison Trahan (165) and Alex Semenenko (HWT) both finished in second place in their respective pools.
Trahan scored wins against Roberto Padilla (Binghamton, TF 17-0), Kaeden Berger (Clarion, TF 17-0), and Hunter Shaut (Buffalo, MD 10-0). Semenenko picked up wins against Aiden Compton (Cornell, FALL 4:36) and Austin Chapman (Clarion, TB-1 3-1).
Thomas Sandoval (197), Andrew Reall (184), and Alex Hamrick (197) all finished in third place in their respective pools.
Sandoval defeated Andre Bailey (Binghamton, MD 16-5) and Quinn Funk (Binghamton, SV-1 8-5). Reall collected victories against Marcus Petite (Buffalo, DEC 5-1) and Adrian Gacek (Clarion, DEC 8-4). Hamrick defeated Kevin Taylor (Sacred Heart, DEC 4-1) and Connor Jacobs (Clarion, DEC 12-6).
"It was good to see the rest of our roster compete today and to watch new guys step up and get some shine," said head coach Jordan Leen after today's event.
UP NEXT
Brown travels to Lehigh (Bethlehem, Pa.) on December 20 (Friday) to compete in the Sheridan Invitational.
