Coed Sailing Wins ACC Round 1A, Women Post All Top-Five Finishes

The coed team won the Open Atlantic Coast Championship Round 1A on October 5-6 at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, MD, beating 17 other top teams and qualifying for the Open Atlantic Coast Championship (ACC) on Oct. 19-20 at Boston College.
The Bears finished with 195 points after 36 races (18 in each division) and finished second in both A and B divisions. Boston College and Roger Williams University finished second and third respectively and the top nine teams qualified for the ACC's. Guthrie Braun '26 (St. Petersburg, FL) and Emily Mueller '25 (Guildford, Great Britain) finished just three points out of first in A-division with 8 finishes in the top 5 and no race worse than 11th in the 18 boat fleet. Skippers Blake Behrens '27 (Santa Barbara, CA) and Mason Stang '25 (Atherton, CA) and crews Caroline Keeffe-Jones '26 (Orleans, MA) and Olivia Miller '25 (Newton, MA) combined to finish second in B-division and posted six first place finishes in the 18 boat fleet.
This was the coed teams third major regatta win this fall, winning the Harry Anderson Trophy at Yale and the Moody Trophy at the University of Rhode Island.
The coed team also sent a team to the Sister Esther Trophy at Salve Regina University in Newport, RI on Oct. 5- 6. The Bears finished a close third overall, led by A-division skippers Tyler Lamm '28 (North Palm Beach, FL) and Charles Gish '28 (Lake Forest, IL) and crews Reese Corckran '28 (Annapolis, MD) and Sasha Gordon '28 (San Mateo, CA) combining to win A-division in the 16 boat fleet.
The women's team continued its strong fall season of top five overall finishes, finishing fourth overall out of 15 teams at the Stu Nelson Women's Trophy at Connecticut College on Oct. 5 and 6. The A-division duo of Katherine McNamara '26 (Darien, CT) and Helen Horangic '25 (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) finished a close third in a strong A-division, just three points out first place. They posted all top eight finishes in all 10 of their races in very tricky conditions. Laura Hamilton '27 (Ft. Lauderdale, FL) and Katherine Majette '27 (St. John, USVI) finished a solid fourth in B-division.
