PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown (2-0) was aggressive all afternoon as the Bears took 37 shots en route to a 2-1 overtime victory over Holy Cross (1-2) at Goldberger Family Field.

Despite outshooting the Crusaders 37-to-9, Brown's Lucy Adams' goal in the 58:54 mark erased the Holy Cross and forced overtime. Lining up for a penalty shot, Imogen Govan connected to secure the perfect weekend for the Bears to begin the 2023 campaign.

"We dominated the entire game and maintained our belief that goals were going to go in against great play by their goalie," said head coach Britt Broady. "It's always great to begin the season 2-0."

Freshman Kylee Del Monte made two saves to pick up the victory, while Brooke Ross (1-2) made 18 saves in the setback for Holy Cross.

The Bears appeared to take a 1-0 lead in the closing minutes of the third period as Katie McCallum's shot following Adams' corner looked to rocket into the net, but the official review left the game scoreless.

In the opening half, Brown's defense stymied the Crusaders with Holy Cross not attempting a shot until over 19 minutes of action.

Brown heads to Northeastern on Friday, September 8 at 6 p.m. and Providence on Sunday, September 10 at 1 p.m.
