Women's Water Polo Sweeps Weekly CWPA Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's water polo swept the CWPA Weekly Awards with Madeliene Poissonnier earning Player of the Week and Rookie of the Week honors and Roxanne Hazuka earning Defensive Player of the Week honors.
The two Bears helped Brown close out the regular season with an overtime win against Harvard and a win against St. Francis Brooklyn.
Poissonnier finished the weekend with four goals, two assists, five ejections drawn and five steals. Against Harvard, Poissonnier scored the game-winning goal in overtime. She also drew five ejections and had a steal and an assist against the Crimson. The freshman tallied three goals against the Terriers later in the day and had four steals and an assist in the victory.
Hazuka earned two wins in goal for the Bears collecting 24 saves in the two victories. Against Harvard, Hazuka had 11 saves and held Harvard to four goals in the second half, allowing Brown to make a comeback and force overtime. Hazuka then shutout Harvard over the two overtime periods. In the win over St. Francis, Hazuka finished with 13 saves.
UP NEXT
The Bears will begin play in the CWPA Tournament as the No. 4 seed, taking on No. 5 seed Saint Francis on Friday at 6 p.m. The tournament will be held at Princeton.
