Men's Swimming and Diving Downed By Penn
11/11/2023 8:54:00 PM | Men's Swimming & Diving
PHILADELPHIA – Brown men's swimming and diving fell in a close meet at Penn, 143-155. Brown earned eight wins on the day with Marcus Lee picking up two individual victories.
We expected a close, back-and-forth meet, and it was. The team did a great job jumping on Penn early winning the first four events, which we needed to do, but unfortunately we lost a few close races after that and let them get back into the meet," said Ollie '50 & Kay Patrell Men's Swimming & Diving Coaching Chair Kevin Norman. "It came down to the wire at the end, we had to split the relays up and finish first and second for the win and just fell short. Although this was a tough loss, we can't overlook the many great performances we had today. We had so many people stepping up and keeping us in the meet throughout the afternoon. Penn is a very good team, and always tough at home. I'm proud how well so many people competed."
Brown's 200 medley relay team of Harrison Powe, Jack Kelly, Nathan DePiero and Jonathan Gim picked up the victory in 1:29.77.
The Bears owned the freestyle events, winning all five freestyle events. Gim won the 50 free (20.41), Marcus Lee won the 100 free (44.65) and 200 free (1:39.85), Andrew Berzolla earned a win in the 500 free (4:33.04) and Aidan Wilson took first in the 1000 free (9:15.08).
DePiero also picked up a win in the 100 fly with a time of 49.14.
On the boards, Rowland Lawver earned a win on the 1-meter springboard with a score of 337.05.
