Peus From Women's Tennis Advances to Round of 16 at ITA Regionals

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -Â Sophomore Phoebe Peus advanced through two rounds in singles play to advance to the round of 16 on day two of the ITA Regionals at Harvard.
In the round of 64, Peus defeated sophomore Rebecca Lynn from Yale (6-2, 6-3), and junior Addison Ahlstrom took down senior Jaida Borg from Niagara (6-2, 6-0).
Peus then took care of business in the round of 32 against grad student Nada Dimovksa from Boston College (6-2, 6-3).
Peus needs to win one more match to qualify for Super Regionals and advance to the quarterfinals.
"Today was a difficult day for our players," said Head Coach Lucie Schmidhuaser. "In most cases, we didn't compete as well as we could and didn't execute the way we needed in important moments of our matches. The good news is that it is early in the fall season and our players have the opportunity to improve the areas of their games that need addressing moving forward."
"The highlight of today was Phoebe Peus' performance in both of her matches. She defeated two high-caliber opponents playing aggressively and accurately, executing her gameplan with complete clarity and competing extremely well."
The doubles pairs of Peus and Hofflander, and senior Nora Lee and sophomore Vivian Miller compete tomorrow as well. Both duos will have to advance through two rounds to qualify for the Super Regionals.
