Men's Water Polo Grabs Wins Against George Washington and Salem

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown men's water polo began its weekend with two wins, beating George Washington and Salem on Saturday.
BROWN 13, GEORGE WASHINGTON 9
The Bears used a balanced attack to beat George Washington to start the weekend. Gabe Chang led Brown with three goals while Goran Narancic, Trey Rogers, Jaxson Tierney and Ilias Stothart all had two goals.
Brown jumped ahead early taking a 4-2 lead after the first quarter as Narancic, Rogers, Ramzi Megalli and Nick Berry all scored.
Up 6-3 at the half, Brown outscored George Washington 5-1 in the third as Chang scored all three of his goals during the frame.
The Bears held off any rally from the Revolutionaries to earn the win.
BROWN 20, SALEM 13
The Bears closed out the night with a big win over Salem as Ilias Stothart had a career-game. Stothart led Brown with eight goals, while Tierney and Chang each had five goals.
Stothart got things started off quickly as he scored four goals in the first quarter. Chang added two goals and Rogers and Tierney each scored as the Bears were up 8-4 after the first frame.
Brown extended its lead in the second quarter as Stothart added another two goals. Brown led the game 12-5 at the half.
Tierney exploded for four goals in the final quarter as Brown kept the lead for good.
UP NEXT
Brown will play two games on Sunday (Oct. 15) to close out play for the weekend. The Bears start the day against Pomona-Pitzer at 9:30 a.m. and will play Occidental at 2 p.m.
