Gymnastics Set to Host Home Opener with Sunday Quad Meet

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - After a pair of strong performances on the road to start the season, the Brown gymnastics team is set to return to the Pizzitola Sports Center for its home opener this Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. The Bears will host Southern Connecticut State, Bridgeport and Rhode Island College in a quad meet.

Brown posted a score of 191.225 in its season-opening dual meet at Yale on January 15, followed by a 192.625 last weekend in a quad meet at Oregon State. The Bears 192.425 average through two meets sits second in the GEC behind No. 45 Penn (194.408). Brown gymnasts have won three weekly awards from the GEC over the last two weeks with senior Abby Contello winning Gymnast of the Week last week after leading the team on vault and bars. Two weeks ago, junior Asta-Sollilja Farrell earned Newcomer of the Week after winning on bars in the season-opener at Yale in her first collegiate meet, and sophomore Julia Bedell was named Specialist of the Week after winning on vault and floor.
