Hard-Fought Match Goes to Boston College

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -Â Brown women's tennis dropped a hard-fought match, 4-3, to Boston College Tuesday afternoon at the Pizzitola Sports Center.
"I was so proud of the effort our team put into today's match," said Head Coach Lucie Schmidhauser. "The strides our players are making in their competitive abilities is great to witness as a coach. We continue to play great doubles across the board, playing with clarity and aggressiveness."
The Bears took a 1-0 match lead with a pair of wins in doubles. Senior Britany Lau and sophomore Addison Ahlstrom took first doubles, 6-3, while junior and Nora Lee and freshman Vivian Miller captured second doubles, 6-2.
Freshman Phoebe Peus improved to 2-0 in the spring season with a win at fourth singles, 6-3, 6-2. Ahlstrom earned a tough victory at fifth singles, dropping the first set, 6-4, before rallying to win the next two, 6-3, 6-3. Junior Olivia Mariotti was competitive in sixth singles as well, dropping two close sets, 7-5, 7-6.
"In singles, Phoebe Peus showed great play-making abilities in addition to her disciplined strategy," said Schmidhauser. "Addie and Olivia competed well in the closing stages of the match. Addie exhibited so much poise in her three-set win and Olivia competed with courage and fight until the last point of the match. As a coach, it is so great for me to work with a group of players who are so motivated and excited to get better each and every day."
