- With a win against Columbia, head coach Mike Martin '04 will be just three wins away from becoming the winningest head coach in Brown basketball history. He started the season with 121 career wins and a victory over the Lions would give him 131. Stanley Ward (1954-69) holds the current record with 133 career wins.
- Columbia opened their Ivy League season with a 62-60 win over Yale, but since then has dropped four in a row to Princeton, Penn, Harvard, and Cornell. The losses have been by an average of 21.8 points.
- Geronimo Rubio De La Rosa leads the Lions in both points and rebounds with 12.5 and 5.6 respectively. The 6-2 sophomore guard has started all 20 games for Columbia averaging 31 minutes per contest.
- Columbia holds the slight edge in the all-time series against Brown at 75-72, but the Bears have won four in a row.
- Last season, Brown put up 93 points on the Lions' home floor to beat them by 19. Paxson Wojcik, Nana Owusu-Anane, and Perry Cowan all scored in double figures for the Bears.
- In their second matchup, Brown won 81-74, this time with Kino Lilly Jr. and Dan Friday pacing the Bears, of those who are still on the team, with double-digit points.
