Bedell and Farrell Honored with GEC Weekly Awards

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's gymnastics team has been recognized with two gymnasts earning weekly awards following the team's first meet. Sophomore Julia Bedell was named the Gymnastics East Conference Specialist of the Week, and junior Asta-Sollilja Farrell was recognized as the Newcomer of the Week, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Bedell won both events she competed in at Sunday's season-opening dual meet at Yale, helping the Bears post a score of 191.225, their highest total for an opening meet since 2017. Bedell set a new career-high and won the vault at 9.850, and also took home gold on floor with her score of 9.700.
Farrell made her collegiate debut on Sunday, winning her lone event of afternoon on bars with a score of 9.850.
Brown will head to the west coast for its next meet this Saturday, January 21 with a quad meet at Oregon State against OSU, Denver and Sacramento State.
