PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown field hockey junior Imogen Govan has been named to the Canada Field Hockey U-21 National Team, announced by Field Hockey Canada earlier today.
Among the 18 selections to the national team, Govan is one of ten NCAA student-athletes on the roster. Govan and Penn's Allison Kuzyk are the two Ivy Leaguers named to the roster.
"I am honored to represent Canada at the Junior Pan American games," Govan said. "I am grateful for my coaches, teammates and parents who have supported me on my field hockey journey, and am thankful for the opportunity to play field hockey at Brown. My coaches and teammates have challenged me to improve my skills and made a better player. I couldn't have done it without them!"
Govan started 13 games in 2022 and finished the season with four goals and nine points. She ranked third on the team in goals. Notably, Govan tallied two goals and added an assist in Brown's 4-3 overtime win over 24th-ranked Miami (Ohio) in early September, finding the back of the net in overtime for the game-winner.
The Oakville, Ontario native and the rest of the Canadian National Team are set to compete in the 2023 Junior Pan American Championship from April 10-18 in Saint Michael, Barbados.
