
Field Hockey Hands Out Team Awards, University Letter Sweaters

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown field hockey program handed out its end-of-year team awards and recognized the Class of 2022 for a final time earlier this week.
Junior Lindsey Ross and senior Danielle van Rootselaar both received two team awards with first-year Julia Hitti and senior Emma Rosen each receiving one team honor.
Additionally, each graduating member of the team received her white University Letter sweater and a framed jersey. Members of the freshman and sophomore classes received brown University Letter sweaters.
John L. Danforth '52 Award
This award is given to the player who makes a substantial contribution on and off the field. Often the unsung hero, providing support to all teammates, staff, family and friends.
2021 Recipient: Lindsey Ross
Wendy J. Anderson Coach's Award
The Coach's award is given to the player who demonstrates leadership on and off the field. Stands apart from others due to her communication and relays information from coaching staff to the team.
2021 Recipient: Lindsey Ross
Most Valuable Player
The MVP award is given to the player who is looked upon both on and off the field. They are dependable, consistent and lead by example.
2021 Recipient: Danielle van Rootselaar
Laura Kavazanjian '06 Award
The outstanding defensive player award is given to the player who impacts the play defensively. They tackle frequently, intercept and create counter attacking opportunities. Named in memory of Laura Kavazanjian '06 in 2011.
2021 Recipient: Julia Hitti
Outstanding Offensive Player
This award is given to the player who has contributed to positive outcomes in the attacking 25. Resulting in goals, assists and other scoring opportunities.
2021 Recipient: Danielle van Rootselaar
Tricia E. Colligan '97 Award
Formerly known as the Pembroke Award, the Tricia E. Colligan '97 award is given to the player who shows fairness, courtesy to teammates and opponents and is gracious in both winning and losing.
