PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's crew saw senior captain Hannah Yazdani named Academic All-Ivy along with the official announcement of five All-Ivy selections from the 2022 Ivy League Championships last Sunday in New Jersey.
The Ivy League announced the Academic All-Ivy selections Wednesday afternoon and officially announced the All-Ivy teams from Sunday's Championship.
Yazdani earned First Team All-Ivy recognition alongside teammate Dahlia Levine with Maya Barnard, Zoe HasBrouck, and Olivia Vavasour picking up Second Team All-Ivy honors. These five student-athletes helped the Bears tie Princeton and Yale for the most team points at the conference championship and secure Brown's 25th consecutive berth to the NCAA Championship.
All five Bears spent the entire 2022 season with the Varsity 8 boat, helping the crew earn the fourth seed at the 2022 NCAA Championship.
Yazdani rowed with the V8 crew for the second straight season in 2022 and holds the highest test measurements among port side rowers in the program. The McLean, Virginia native has spent the majority of the season in the 5-seat of the top boat.
Levine made the jump to the V8 crew after spending the 2021 season with the 2V8 boat. The Ardmore, Pennsylvania native has spent most of the 2022 season in the 7-seat.
Maya Barnard earned Second Team All-Ivy honors as the V8 coxswain in 2022. The Wellesley, Massachusetts native spent the 2021 season guiding the 2V8 boat before moving to the Varsity 8 this season.
HasBrouck, a native of Saratoga Springs, New York, spent the majority of the season in the 5-seat of the V8 crew.
Vavasour rounds out the All-Ivy selections after racing in the 3-seat of the Varsity 8 boat in 2022. This season marks her second with the Bruno top boat.
In addition to earning First Team honors, Yazdani was named Brown's Academic All-Ivy selection for her efforts in the classroom. The senior is a double concentrator in Economics and International & Public Affairs. The two-time CRCA Scholar-Athlete recently presented her thesis at the 2022 Watson Institute Thesis Conference.
The Bears placed five on All-Ivy teams for the first time since 2018. In the 2018 season, Brown saw Sophie Paine and Louise Sommer earn First Team honors with Anna Odell, Amy Tarczynski, and Keenae Tiersma picking up Second Team honors.
The Bears return to Nathan Benderson Park for the 2022 NCAA Championship over Memorial Day Weekend in Sarasota, Florida. The Varsity 8 boat earned the four-seed with the Second Varsity 8 boat grabbing the five-seed and the Varsity 4 boat garnering the sixth seed.
