Women's tennis comes up short at Columbia

NEW YORK – The Brown women's tennis team fell to Columbia 4-2 Saturday afternoon in New York.
"I'm very encouraged by the progress we are making in terms of our grit and competitiveness," head coach Lucie Schmidhauser said. "The main area of improvement continues to be trusting our ability to stay in points until we can capitalize on weaker balls and adjusting strategy to make our opponents uncomfortable.
"Britany and Addie continue to play excellent doubles and our line three doubles of Sophie and Lindsey use unorthodox tactics to continue to get the job done, which is fun to watch. Olivia did a great job committing to her game plan and fighting back after a disappointing second set, showing the determination and belief we continue to emphasize. Our team is learning a lot about resilience and grit as we are not seeing the wins in our column, but I truly believe these lessons will pay off in the long run."
The Bears earned two points, one from doubles and one from singles. In doubles, Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom teamed up for a win, as did Sophia Reddy and Lindsey Hofflander.
In singles, Olivia Mariotti earned the lone Bear victory.
