
#7 Women's Crew Sweeps Races in Second Day of Big 10 Invitational

SARASOTA, Fla. – The seventh-ranked Brown women's crew team swept all four races in the third and final session of the 2022 Big 10 Invitational on Saturday at Nathan Benderson Park.
Brown took wins over 17th-ranked Rutgers, 19th-ranked Washington State, and Wisconsin in all four races, closing the two-day event with six first-place finishes and five second-place finishes.
"We have had two days of great racing in Sarasota against some of the best crews in the country and we greatly appreciate the support of our Athletics Division for helping to make this trip possible," said Loyalty Chair for Women's Crew John Murphy. "While we feel good about where we are at this point in the season, we also know that there is work to be done."
Brown's B4 crew opened the racing with a time of 7:12.508 for a 7.7-second victory over the Scarlet Knights and an 8.2-second win over Wisconsin.
The Varsity 8 crew won its second race in as many days with a time of 6:15.485, shaving 10 seconds off of yesterday's time and taking a seven-second win over Rutgers. The Cougars (6:24.258) and Badgers (6:27.068) did not finish far behind the second-place Scarlet Knights.
Matching the 1V8 crew, Brown's 2V8 boat won its second race and posted a time of 6:24.744 to finish more than eight seconds ahead of Rutgers (6:33.114).
The Bears' A4 crew closed the competition with a time of 7:14.078 to complete the Saturday sweep and finish 7.4 seconds ahead of the Scarlet Knights.
The Bears head to Ithaca, New York to race against the Big Red of Cornell and the Big Green of Dartmouth on Saturday, April 23.
