Women's water polo locks down La Verne and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in Tuesday wins

LA VERNE, Calif – Brown women's water polo blew past La Verne and Claremont-Mudd-Scripps on Monday (March 28) to remain undefeated on their California trip.
The Bears started the day with a 15-8 win over La Verne before closing out the day beating CMS 12-2.
"One of our goals for this trip is to improve on our defense," said Felix Mercado, Head Coach Chair for Water Polo. "Tonight's effort against CMS fueled our strong start to lead 6-0. We hope to build on our performance as we head into the final weeks of our season."
GAME 1: BROWN 15, LA VERNE 8
Tallulah Clancy led the Bears with four goals and Claire Pisani netted three as Brown took down La Verne 15-8. Lily Weiser, Claire Poissonnier and Zoe King all finished with two goals.
Brown gave up the first goal of the game but then went on a big run to take control. Dagmara Czajka scored Brown's first goal and she was followed by Emily Suong and Poissonier as Brown jumped ahead 3-1.
Pisani then scored two goals just over a minute apart as the first quarter wound down, putting the Bears up 5-1 after eight minutes.
Clancy scored her first goal of the contest a minute into the second quarter before La Verne finally stopped the run. With just over two minutes left in the half, goals by King and Clancy made the score 8-2 Brown.
The Bears took a five-goal lead into the fourth quarter after being outscored 4-3 in the third. Weiser tallied two goals and King netted one in the third.
Pisani and Clancy each found the back of the net twice in the fourth quarter as Brown pulled away for the win.
Audrey Gallagher finished with a team-high two saves in goal for the Bears.
GAME 2: BROWN 12, CMS 2
The Bears kept CMS off the board for the first half of the game as Brown jumped out to a 6-0 lead and never looked back.
Five different Bears scored in the first quarter as Weiser, Poissonnier, Czajka, King and Bryn Gioffredi all found the back of the net. A goal by Pisani in the second quarter gave Brown the 6-0 lead at halftime.
CMS scored back-to-back goals to start the second half but Brown responded with two goals by King and a tally from Siena Berry to make it 9-2 after three quarters.
Brown's defense kept CMS off the board in the fourth quarter as well. The Bears got goals from Weiser, Poissonnier and Czajka for the final margin.
Marley Presiado finished the game with nine saves, allowing just the two goals in the win.
