PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Head Brown women's lacrosse coach Keely McDonald has announced two additions to the program's coaching staff. Kelsey McGovern will serve as the Director of Operations, while Merredith Kraisser joins the Bears as a Volunteer Assistant Coach.
McGovern comes to Brown after coaching stints at Bryant, UMass Amherst, and, most recently, Harvard during the 2018 season. From 2011-2014, she was a member of the women's lacrosse team at UMass Amherst where she was named an All-American, to the A10 All-Conference First Team, All-Region First Team, and finished her career in the top five of draw controls per game in the NCAA. She also helped UMass appear in four NCAA Tournaments.
From 2016-18, McGovern played professionally in the UWLX for the Philadelphia Force. From 2015-17, she coached the Italian National Team, including during the 2015 European Championship.
McGovern earned a degree kinesiology from UMass in 2014 and went on to earn a degree in nursing from Curry College. She currently works as a critical care nurse at Rhode Island Hospital.
Kraisser joins the Bears after a four-year career at Campbell University where she was named to the All-Conference team as a goalie and holds the record for the most saves (20) in a single game in program history. She also has coaching experience with Bogue Elite Lacrosse in Emerald Isle, N.C.
Kraisser earned her degree in marketing from Campbell in 2017.
The Bears will return to action next Thursday, March 17 when they host Central Connecticut on Faculty & Staff Day.
