LAS VEGAS, NEV. – Brown senior quarterback EJ Perry is ready for the spotlight this Thursday night as he gets set to participate in the annual East-West Shrine Bowl in Las Vegas. The game will take place Thursday, February 3 at Allegiant Stadium, home of the Las Vegas Raiders and this year's Pro Bowl. Kickoff is set of 8 p.m. ET and will be televised live on NFL Network.
The East-West Shrine Bowl is America's longest-running college football all-star game, which supports Shriners Children's® and is taking place as part of NFL Pro Bowl Week. Players are selected to participate based on their potential to make NFL rosters. Over 100 players from the 2021 Shrine Bowl signed pro contracts over the past year, with over 70 making final NFL rosters this season. On average, there are over 300 East-West Shrine Bowl alumni on active NFL rosters each season. Notable Shrine Bowl alums include Tom Brady, Brett Farve and John Elway.
Perry will be on the 71-member East Team, and is one of only nine non-FBS players on the East roster, and one of 14 overall. He is the lone representative from the Ivy League.
For his performance during the 2021 season, Perry was named the Bushnell Cup winner as the Ivy League's Offensive Player of the Year, and was Phil Steel's FCS Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year. He was also named a finalist for the Walter Payton Award and earned Third Team All-America honors from Stats Perform. Perry threw for 3,033 yards and 23 touchdowns in addition to rushing for 402 yards and seven touchdowns. He ranked third in the nation in completions per game (29.5), seventh in completion percentage (66.8), eighth in passing yards per game (303.3), eighth in total offense (343.5 yards per game) and ninth in points responsible per game (18.8). His performance earned him the Bulger Lowe Award from the Gridiron Club of Greater Boston as the top offensive player in FBS/FCS Football in New England. He was also named All-New England by the New England Football Writers Association and First Team All-Ivy for the second straight season.
