
Women's swimming and diving finishes fifth at Ivy Championships

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Brown women's swimming and diving finished fifth in the 2022 Ivy League Championships as the meet came to a close on Saturday night (Feb. 19).
The night started off with the women's 1650 freestyle and Sara Barrett came in seventh with a time of 16:47.86. Emma Whall (17:00.83) and Audrey Orange (17:05.76) finished 14th and 15th, respectively. Bella Antoniuk finished 18th with a time of 17:12.66 and Miku Takabayashi posted a time of 17:18.05.
"This year's team outperformed all outside expectations and projections. Pool and program records were broken and our swimmers and divers shook up the top performers list quite a bit these last few days," said head coach Kate Kovenock. "I'm really proud of how this team navigated the season as a whole. Our upperclassmen put a lot of care into mentoring two classes experiencing their first NCAA season. Our first-years, sophomores and juniors aren't done just yet. I am excited to see where we are next week with our home NCAA qualifier meet."
In the 200 backstroke, Emily Clements was the top finisher for Brown with a 10th-place finish with a time of 1:59.25. Nell Chidley posted a personal-best time of 2:00.65 for a 15th-place finish. Rebecca Waterson's time of 2:01.60 for a 17th-place finish was also a personal best.
Sam Scott's personal best time of 50.85 was the top time for Brown in the 100 free, giving Scott a 15th-place finish. Anna Podurgiel finished right behind Scott in 16th, also finishing with a personal best (50.97).
Audrey Lukawski took sixth place in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:15.82. Ellie Brault clocked a personal best time of 2:16.50 for a 10th-place finish. Kellie Willhite finished 19th with a time of 2:20.35.
Chidley's fifth-place finish in the 200 butterfly was the top finish on the night for Brown. Chidley swam a time of 1:59.63. Bilgin finished in 11th (2:01.84), Whall finished 16th (2:06.71) and Iorini finished in 18th with a personal best time of 2:04.14.
The night ended with the 400 freestyle relay and the team of Podurgiel, Scott, Jenna Reznicek and Orange finished eighth with a time of 3:25.40.
