Women’s Tennis Defeats Dartmouth 4-2

ITHACA, N.Y. – Sixth-seeded Brown (2-4) defeated seventh-seeded Dartmouth (4-4), 4-2, on day two of the ECAC Indoor Championship at the Reis Tennis Center. The Bears will conclude the three-day tournament against fourth-ranked Yale tomorrow at 11 a.m.
"Our goal for today was to be disciplined with our performance goals throughout the entire match," said Lucie Schmidhauser, Broadbent Family Women's Tennis Chair. "We did a better job in singles remaining disciplined and making our opponents uncomfortable. Overall, it was a good team effort today. I'd like to see if we can take today's momentum with us to tomorrow's match against Yale."
Dartmouth took the doubles point with wins at No. 1 and No. 2. Britany Lau and Addison Ahlstrom were tied at No. 3 4-4 before moving on to singles play.
Lau defeated Ashley Hess in the top flight 7-5, 3-6, 6-3 and Ali Benedetto also won in three sets at No. 2, rallying from a 6-3 loss in the opening set with back-to-back 6-4 victories.
Gabby Soliman won in straight sets 6-3, 6-2 at No. 3 and Lindsey Hofflander took No. 6 6-3, 6-1.
Ahlstrom won the opening set of flight No. 5, 7-6 (3). Below are the full results.
