WASHINGTON D.C. – Brown graduate student Ryan Aughavin has been named to the initial 2022 Tewaaraton Award Watch List. The Tewaaraton Foundation announced the initial watch list last night (Feb. 10).
In the last full season of competition in 2019, Aughavin posted 30 goals and 43 points in 16 games, earning Second Team All-Ivy and All-Tournament honors. Aughavin posted at least a point in 15 of 16 games in 2019 and tallied multi-point efforts in 13 games, including hat tricks against Harvard (Mar. 16), Holy Cross (Mar. 19), Villanova (Mar. 25), and Princeton (Mar. 30).
In the shortened 2020 season, Aughavin posted 18 points in five games with hat tricks against Sacred Heart (Feb. 18), Providence (Feb. 29), and Virginia (Mar. 8).
The Glen Head, New York native enters the season with 47 goals and 70 points in 31 career games.
The Tewaaraton Foundation will announce additions to the Watch List on March 11 and April 1. On April 21, the list will be cut down to 25 nominees with five finalists selected in early May.
Aughavin looks to become the second Bear since 2016 to win the coveted award. Dylan Molloy captured the prestigious award in 2016 after leading the Bears to the Final Four with 62 goals and 116 points.
