Brown falls to Providence, 62-44

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown women's basketball fell at Providence on Wednesday night, 62-44. Grace Arnolie led the Bears with 15 points.
Arnolie was the biggest offensive weapon for Brown (6-4) as the Bears finished with a season-low 44 points against Providence (7-4). Grace Kirk was second on the team with six points, hitting two threes. Arnolie also had two made threes but Brown finished just 7-for-24 from beyond the arc.
Brown was locked in a low-scoring battle in the first quarter, trailing 13-10 after ten minutes of play. A Kirk three pulled Brown withing one during the quarter after the Bears trailed 7-0 early on.
Trailing by four in the second, Brown began a run, started by a three from Alyssa Moreland. Two minutes later, a three from Arnolie put Brown ahead 17-15 and a layup by Gianna Aiello off a great pass by Arnolie put Brown up 19-15. Providence tied the game at 19 but Arnolie responded with another jumper. After the Friars tied the game at 21, Providence used a 9-0 run the rest of the half to lead 30-21 at the break.
Providence pulled away, using a 22-14 advantage in the third quarter to take control of the game.
Brown's defense did force 16 steals, led by six from Moreland and three from Arnolie but the Bears were outrebounded 43-21.
Providence was led by 22 points from Olivia Olsen.
UP NEXT
Brown will return home for its final home non-conference game with a matchup against Mitchell College on Saturday. The game against Mitchell will begin at 3 p.m.
