PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Brown honored the senior class prior to Saturday afternoon's season finale against the 15th-ranked Harvard Crimson with the visitors taking a 2-0 road win at Goldberger Family Field.
Brown and Harvard were strong defensively in the opening quarter with both sides stopping offensive chances before they turned into shots. The opening 15 minutes ended with no shots and not penalty corners for both teams.
Jodie Brine (8 saves) made a strong save on an Avery Donahue shot early in the second quarter and moments later, Brine kicked a loose ball to Emma Rothkopf to clear the Crimson scoring chance.
Harvard was awarded the game's first penalty corner halfway through the quarter with Brine turning aside a Kiley Allen shot.
The Bears picked up their first penalty corner with three minutes remaining in the opening half. Brown moved the ball above the circle before a shot from Imogen Govan sailed high.
Harvard picked up a pair of corners in the final minute of the half, with Bronte-May Brough scoring her 11th goal of the season with assists from Emily Guckian and Kate Oliver.
The Crimson jumped out of the gates in the third quarter and picked up three corners in a two-minute span, breaking through on the third with Brough scoring her second of the game.
Lucy Adams had a pair of shots late in the third quarter as Brown found the attacking circle. Harvard goalkeeper Ellie Shahbo (2 saves) kept Adams off the scoreboard on both chances.
Govan had the first scoring chance of the fourth quarter with eight minutes remaining. The junior was sprung by a Rothkopf pass on the counter-attack with Crimson defender Siofra Murdoch and Shahbo stopping the threat deep in the circle.
Lexi Pellegrino picked up her first shot on goal of the afternoon with 3:30 remaining in the fourth as Shahbo made the save. The Bears quickly picked up a penalty corner chance following the save.
Brown had three more corner chances after the first chance late in the game but were unable to break through to cut into the Crimson lead.
