
Cross Country Rounds Out Season with Northeast Regionals

BRONX, N.Y. – The Brown cross country programs wrapped up their 2022 season on Friday afternoon at the NCAA Northeast Regional Championships at Van Cortland Park.
The Bears' women's team took home 20th place overall at the regional, trimming 11 seconds off the team's average 6K finish time from the Ivy League heps which took place on the same course two weeks ago.
Competing in a 10-kilometer race for the first time this year, Brown's men finished 28th overall. Syracuse took home the team title on the men's side, with Providence claiming the women's crown.
The women's team was led by junior Isa Stronski, who led Brown's pack for the first time this season in 22:10.9, nearly 45 seconds faster than her time from heps. Sophomore Isolde McManus finished second on the team in 22:29.5, followed by senior Sarah Reichheld (22:33.7). Junior Tevah Gevelber shaved one minute off her heps time, finishing in 22:40.0, and freshman Emily Mrakovcic improved by 37 seconds in 22:58.4. Senior Emma Madgic (23:12.8) and freshman Juli Gonzalez (24:45.9) rounded out Brown's seven runners.
On the men's side, five Bears competed in the field of 227 runners on the 10-kilometer course. Senior Nate Price led the team's pack for the second time this year with a time of 32:05.10. Freshman Jason Markopoulos was next in 32:33.1, followed by sophomore Justin Hickey (32:54.7), sophomore Sam Colton (32:58.4) and senior Colby Zarle (33:13.4).
Brown will now turn its attention to the indoor track, opening up the indoor season at home with the Alden Invitational on Saturday, December 3.
