PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A pair of Brown cross country athletes have been recognized for their work both on the course and in the classroom. Senior Lily Harding and junior Evan Sherman were both named to the 2022 Cross Country Academic All-Ivy Team on Tuesday. The duo are among the 16 men and women who were recognized by the league in their announcement of major postseason award winners.
Concentrating in history, Sherman led Brown's men's pack in all five of his races this season, including taking seventh overall at the season-opening Suffolk Short Course Classic (5K-15:47.9) and winning the individual title at the Rothenberg Run (5K-15:15.9). Most recently, he led Brown at the Ivy League Heptagonal Championships on Oct. 28.
Harding led Brown's women's pack at the Ivy League Heps, and also led Brown in fourth place overall out of 104 at the Nassaney Invitational in September. A biology concentrator, Harding also helped restart Environmental Program House, a co-op on campus in 2021.
To be eligible for Academic All-Ivy, a student-athlete must be a non-first year that is in good academic standing at their institution, and serve as a starter or key reserve on their team's roster.
The Bears will next compete at the NCAA Regional meet at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx on Friday, Nov. 11.
