Men's basketball opens Ivy play at Penn

PHILADELPHIA – The Brown men's basketball team will open Ivy League play this Sunday, Jan. 2 at 3 p.m. at Penn.
Both teams will be looking to start Ivy play on the right foot, while also attempting to put an end to their respective winless streaks. The Bears have dropped their last three games, while the Quakers have lost six in a row. Penn will also have some rust to deal with, having played its last game on Dec. 11.
The game will be broadcast live on ESPN+.

Scouting the Bears (8-7, 0-0 IVY)
- Brown is coming off an 81-67 loss to Maryland its last time out. The Bears led the Terrapins by four at halftime and Tamenang Choh led the team with 25 points on the night.
- Kino Lilly Jr. continues to lead the team with 12.6 points per game. His 37 made three-pointers are also a team high.
- The Bears finished the 2019-20 season at 8-6 in the Ivy League, just missing out on qualifying for Ivy Madness. Penn and Brown were both 8-6, but the Quakers held the necessary tiebreakers to claim the fourth and final tournament spot.
- Penn has gone up against some tough competition during its nonconference schedule, having faced off against three ranked opponents in Florida State, Arkansas, and Villanova.
- The Quakers' three wins have come against Bucknell, Lafayette, and Old Dominion by an averaged of 13.7 points. Their ten losses have been by an average of 14.
- Jordan Dingle leads both Penn and the Ivy League with 20 points per game. Max Martz leads the team with 5.7 assists, while Dingle also leads the team with 3 assists per game.
- The Quakers own an all-time 110-28 advantage over the Bears.
- During the 2019-20 season, Brown and Penn split the two meetings with both sides winning on their opposition's home courts.
- During the Mike Martin era, Brown has won seven matchups against the Quakers, while dropping nine.
