Rugby Returns to Action Against Sacred Heart Saturday

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Brown women's rugby team returns to action to take on the Sacred Heart Pioneers (0-1) Saturday morning at Marvel Field. Saturday's game is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.

UPDATED HEALTH AND SAFETY PROTOCOLS
- Brown University recently updated its health and safety protocols surrounding home athletic events. Currently, all spectators, regardless of vaccination status, must wear face coverings at home athletic events.
SCOUTING BROWN (0-1)
- Brown began the 2021 campaign at Marvel Field against Army (Sept. 4), the national runners-up from a season ago. The Bears and Black Knights were tied 5-5 at halftime before Army jumped to a 19-5 lead in the second half.
- Mahdia Parker and Kate Molloy converted tries to even the game at 19-19 before an overtime score from Army's Codi Butt gave the Black Knights the victory.
- Saturday's contest marks the third meeting between the Bears and Pioneers in series history. Brown captured a 26-19 home win over Sacred Heart in 2018 before taking a 29-17 victory in 2019 on the road.
- Since 2014, Brown holds a 12-10 record at home.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART (0-1)
- Sacred Heart opened the 2021 season on Friday (Sept. 3) at home against the Quinnipiac Bobcats, falling 48-24 in the season opener.
- Quinnipiac jumped to a 21-0 lead in the game and never looked back, taking a 31-3 lead into the second half.
- SHU freshman Alyssa Cunningham led the Pios with 14 points, converting one try and hitting 4-of-4 kicks. Mackenzie Jumper led Sacred Heart with three tackles.
- Sacred Heart finished the shortened Spring 2021 scheduled with a 4-2 record, with three wins over LIU and another over Mount St. Mary's.
