Volleyball hits the road for three more matches over the weekend

Brown will play three matches at the Hartford Invitational.
WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – The Brown volleyball program is set to play its last weekend of non-league play with three matches at Hartford. The Bears will play Central Connecticut State, Sacred Heart and Hartford on Friday (Sept. 17) and Saturday (Sept. 18).
Brown begins the weekend with a single match on Friday, taking on Central Connecticut State at 4 p.m. The Bears round out the weekend taking on Sacred Heart at 1 p.m. on Saturday before closing the night against Hartford at 7 p.m.
SCOUTING BROWN
Brown sits at 4-3 on the season after two weekends of play. Each of Brown's last five matches have been decided in three sets with the Bears going 3-2 in those matches.
Kate Sheire leads the Bears offense with 2.78 kills per set. Sophia Miller (2.56), Jilienne Widener (2.41) and Beau Vanderlaan (2.35) are also averaging over 2.00 kills per set.
Five Bears are hitting over .300, led by Zoe Ubamadu, who is hitting .500 with only six errors in 66 attempts.
Victoria Vo leads the defense with 3.83 digs per set and Kaitlyn Wong (3.63) and Cierra Jenkins (3.36) are also averaging over 3.00 digs per set. At the net, Vanderlaan leads the team with 19 blocks and Ubamadu has 18.
SCOUTING CENTRAL CONNECTICUT STATE
Central Connecticut State is 2-7 on the season with both wins coming in their last two matches after starting the season with seven-straight losses.
The offense has been a struggle for the Blue Devils as the team is hitting .121 on the season and averaging 11 kills per set. Margaret Nolan leads the team with 3.14 kills per set and Nyjha Marcelin is second on the team at 2.55 per set.
CCSU's defense is holding opponents to a .187 hitting percentage and doing a lot on the back line as two players are averaging over 4.00 digs per set. Ashlyn Eisenga is tops on the squad at 4.55 digs per set.
SCOUTING SACRED HEART
Sacred Heart is 5-4 on the season and is coming off of a 2-1 weekend at their home tournament with wins against Lafayette and Fairfield.
The Pioneers offense is clicking at a .221 hitting percentage as a team. Jasmine Rogers leads the team with 2.50 kills per set and Sarah Ciszek is hitting a team-high .355 percentage.
On defense, Emma Smallcomb leads the team averaging 4.18 digs per set. At the net, Reghan Palanchi has 33 blocks to lead the Pioneers.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
Hartford holds a 2-7 record and dropped matches at Rhode Island and Rider in its last two contests.
The Hawks offense is hitting just .107, while allowing opponents to hit .205. Camryn Luginbuhl is the leader of the offense with 4.26 kills per set. No other Hawk has more than 1.80 kills per set on the season.
Alex Lucero is averaging 4.40 digs per set and Valerie Diede and Robin Helms are the top two blockers with 25 and 24 total blocks, respectively.
