TOKYO, JAPAN - One of six Brown University Olympians, Jagger Stephens '20 will represent Guam in Tokyo swimming the 100m freestyle on Tuesday, July 27th.
A freestyle and butterfly specialist at Brown, Stephens swam the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle, 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly at the Ivy League Championships during his collegiate career in the pool.
"Jagger is such a tremendous kid," said Brown Men's Swimming & Diving head coach Kevin Norman who coached Stephens his senior season. "He embraced the change right away and really bought in to what we were trying to do. He had quick improvements for us. I had a chance to work with him for a bit and then he went off and swam competitively during the summer and did a great job. As a senior a was a great swimmer for us. He was a leader in the water and a vocal leader out of the water and part of a great senior class for us."
A Health & Human Biology concentrator at Brown, Stephens hails from Agana Heights, Hagatna, Guam.
He was recently featured in the Guam Daily Post with fellow Team Guam Olympic swimmer Mineri Gomez in an article that you can read here.
