
Cummings Nominated for NCAA Woman of the Year Award

PROVIDENCE, RI – Brown women's soccer standout Sydney Cummings '21 (Millstone Township, NJ) has been nominated for the prestigious 2021 NCAA Woman of the Year award.
The NCAA Woman of the Year program was established in 1991 and honors the academic achievements, athletics excellence, community service and leadership of graduating female college athletes from all three divisions. To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by Summer 2021.
Cummings was a standout defender for the Bears and was two-time captain for the team. She was an All-American as a junior and received All-Ivy honors in each of the three seasons that she played in 2017, 2018 and 2019. Cummings and Brown did not play the 2020 season which was cancelled due to COVID.
Cummings was a big part of the Bears' 2019 Ivy League Championship season and played 4,803 of a possible 4,822 minutes (99.6%) during her illustrious career. She helped the team post 24 shutouts as a team while at Brown.
She graduated with a degree in English this past spring and will be attending Georgetown University this fall where she will play soccer for the defending Big East Champion Hoyas.
The NCAA will announce the winner of the award at a ceremony on October 17th in Indianapolis.
