
Women's History Month 2021: Lauren Becker ’87, Women’s Lacrosse/Field Hockey

Throughout the month of March, Brown Athletics will celebrate Women's History Month through a series of profiles. Over the course of the month, the Bears will recognize women who have made an impact on the university community and beyond.
Lauren Becker '87, Women's Lacrosse/Field Hockey
At Brown, Lauren Becker '87 made her mark in the record books. In lacrosse, she captured 1984 Ivy League Rookie of the Year honors and garnered First Team All-Ivy selection in 1986 and 1987. She also earned Second Team All-Ivy plaudits in 1984. In 1986 she set an Ivy League record for most assists in a season. To this day her individual Brown records include most career assists (120), most career points (222), most assists in a season (50), most points in a season (78) and most single-game points (14). In field hockey – which she captained – she was a First Team All-Ivy selection in 1984, 1985 and 1986. She gained Ivy League Rookie of the Year in 1984, and as a junior, she led the Ivy League in scoring. Becker garnered Team MVP honors in 1984, 1985 and 1986. A 1986 Academic All-America selection, Becker has coached high school lacrosse and served as a mental skills coach since graduation.
